Is WordPress Easy?
My story
As a counsellor I like to help other people. I hate to see other people struggle when I think I have some skills to help them. And when it comes to websites, SEO and marketing I have managed to get skills now.
It did not come natural and it did not happen overnight. A few years ago I was completely clueless when it came to websites and SEO. I built a website myself in Frontpage and put that online. It looked horrible and had no SEO optimization what so ever.
My second website was built by a web designer in Joomla. It was already much more what I wanted. But not completely. And I found Joomla difficult to work with. I don't have a technical background so for me and other counsellors I want to make website management as easy as possible.
My third website was built in WordPress. And now I am happy. I can change text really easy, adding pages and adding pictures is just as easy. And there are so many themes to choose from. This is something I can understand and that you can understand without having to get very technical.
WordPress
It really is awesome. WordPress is easy to learn and you don't need to spend thousands of Euro's or Pounds on a web designer. You can still hire a web designer to do the tasks that are too technical for you. That is what I did. But most of it you can do yourself. With a little help with the basics you make it work for you as well.
You will no longer have to pay a webmaster thousands of euro's to make a website for you. And in the old days you often ended up with a website you had no control over whatsoever. Those websites don't work anymore. These days you need to be able to update your website often. Google likes websites that expand. With WordPress it is so easy to add a blog to your website. If you blog once a week, you add new content that way!
Don't all the websites look the same?
The beautiful thing is, there are so many themes [paid and free] that all the websites look different. You can customise them to your style. And by adding plugins and widgets you add the functions that you need. For example it is very easy to add Facebook and Twitter buttons so readers can share your posts with their friends.
The startup costs for WordPress can be really low, so why not give it a try to see what it can do for you?
